In the City of Martinsville, Jennifer Bowles was re-elected with 3,295 votes. Former Mayor Danny Turner beat out Joey Martin for the second seat by 32 votes, 1,681 to 1,649. Martin indicated he will request a recount as provided for by the narrow margin of victory. For Senate, Tim Kaine took 64 percent of the vote while challenger Corey Stewart managed only 34 percent. In the 9th District, Anthony Flaccavento received 63 percent of the vote in the city while incumbent Morgan Griffith received 37 percent.
In Henry County, Corey Stewart was the choice for Senate, 61 percent to 38 percent for Kaine. In the 5th District Denver Riggleman got 56 percent of Henry County’s vote to 44 percent for Leslie Cockburn. In the 9th District, Morgan Griffith took 66 percent of the vote while Flaccavento received 34 percent.
Statewide, with 90 percent of the precincts reporting, Tim Kaine had 55 percent of the vote to Corey Stewart’s 43 percent. In the 5th District, with 91 percent of the vote in, Denver Riggleman had 55 percent to Leslie Cockburn’s 45 percent. With 96 percent reporting, Morgan Griffith had 65 percent to Anthony Flaccavento’s 35 percent.
