“Angela’s Ashes”

I watched “Angela’s Ashes” last night. It’s a 1999 Irish drama film based on the memoir of the same name by Frank McCourt and stars Emily Watson and Robert Carlyle. Frank McCourt is played by Joe Breen, Ciaran Owens, and Michael Legge through his various stages of growing up.

This is a story about Frank McCourt and his childhood after his family is forced to move back to Ireland from the United States (never heard of that happening) because of financial difficulties and his father’s alcoholism. The setting is in Limerick, Ireland during the 1930s and 1940s.

Magnificently done. I highly recommend this one. 4-stars.
