Heavy rainfall is possible Saturday afternoon, which could lead to minor flooding. Finally, strong and gusty winds are expected, especially along and west of the Blue Ridge, Sunday night into Monday.

High pressure still is in control this morning, but a cold front will sag southward into eastern Virginia and North Carolina this afternoon. Cooler and drier air associated with a wedge of high pressure will filter in tonight into Friday. A storm system will affect the region Friday night into Saturday, bringing a possible period of wintry weather before changing to all rain Saturday.
