The Board of Supervisors held a spirited meeting Monday over a part-time paid EMT who co-hosts a podcast show filled will racist jokes and has a white supremacy theme. Chairman Lock Boyce wanted the JEB Stuart Volunteer Rescue Squad to fire Alex McNabb, or risk losing funding from the County. The board voted to keep the funding in place, but passed a motion condemning McNabb’s comments – after a 5-minute shouting match between McNabb and Boyce. McNabb contends he is performing satire and is protected by free speech. His actions have resulted in him being put on unpaid leave while state and federal authorities investigate. Meanwhile, the story has begun to receive national attention.
