The Danville Chapter of Virginia Organizing has issued a press release calling on the Danville Public School administration to address what they describe as a “suspensions crisis in city schools.” They refer to a report from the Legal Aid Justice Center’s Suspended Progress report that came out last year. According to the report, Franklin City has the highest percentage of students suspended at least once at 24 percent. Petersburg is 2nd at 22 percent and Danville is third at just under 20 percent. The report has Martinsville at just under 13 percent and Henry County at just over 9 percent.
