Construction of a new jail in Henry County is slated to begin this year. Deputy County Administrator Dale Wagoner says bids for construction start this month and construction should start in July. The new jail will be at the site of the former Dupont Plant in Martinsville. Wagoner says the project costs $70 million and they are eligible for a 25-percent reimbursement from the state. He says the jail is projected to open in Fall 2021.
