James O. “Jimmy” Carter, Sr.

James O. “Jimmy” Carter, Sr., 87, of Whispering Pine Rd., Axton, VA, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at his home. He was born January 18, 1932 in Virginia, the son of the late Geneva C. and Onie E. Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Lillie O. Watkins Carter.

Jimmy is survived by two daughters, Carolyn D. Carter of Axton, VA; and Beulah M. Holland of Danville, VA; two sons, James O. Carter, Jr. of Manassas, PA; and Julius L. Carter of Axton, VA; 11 grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Oniey Jr. Carter and JL Carter; three sisters, Orva Carter, Carolyn A. Dillard and Patricia A. Martin all of Axton, VA.

He was a member of Evangelical Holiness Church and was past Deacon of Mt. Sinai Holiness Church, Axton, VA. Jimmy retired from R. P. Thomas Trucking Co.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Holiness Church with Elder Marvin Slade, Eulogist. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. for visitation and all other times at the home, 817 Whispering Pine Rd., Axton, VA.

Burial will follow in Watkins Family Cemetery, Axton, VA.
