Virginia State Police are investigating two separate wrecks in Henry County that resulted in two unrelated fatalities.
On Thursday at 3:30pm, a 40-year-old woman was headed south on Route 220 near Route 641 when she ran off the road, hit the guardrail, and went over an embankment. A 7-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle and died after being transported to the hospital. The driver was also taken to the hospital. No names have been released.
On Friday at 10:30am, 87-year-old Charlie Phillips was headed south on Route 1720 near Route 58 when he ran off the left side of the road, went down an embankment, and collided with a concrete storm drain. Phillips died at the scene.
Police are investigating both crashes. No charges have been filed.
