According to VDOT, the following work is scheduled for Henry and Patrick Counties:
There will be slurry seal work on various routes Henry County from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Beginning Tuesday, May 21, Route 661 (Dangler Mountain Road) will be closed to through traffic from Route 741(Elk Creek Road) to Route 662 (Collinstown Road). This road closure is necessary to replace the bridge over Elk Creek. During this time, a detour will be utilized and directional signs will be in place to assist the traveling public. Weather permitting, the road is expected to be re-opened May 31, 2019.
The bridge on Route 703 (Koger Mill Road) over the North Mayo River is closed for repairs. The bridge is located north of Critz, about 0.5 mile from Route 703’s intersection with Route 626 (Abram Penn Highway). Local traffic can follow posted detour signs around the closure. Recent heavy rains have caused some erosion around one of the bridge’s piers and environmental issues have required assessments of the areas. Due to this, work on the bridge is not expected to start until approximately June 2019.
Guardrail will be installed on Lovers Leap Mountain on Route 58 eastbound and westbound from 0.80 miles east of Route 610 to 0.08 miles west of Route 8 at mile marker 0. Lane closures will be in place, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Drivers should expect 10-15 minutes wait time.
