Hope Perry

The School Board of Henry County approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to fill one administrative position at their June 6 meeting for the 2019-2020 school year.

Mrs. Hope Perry will be assistant principal at Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School. Perry currently serves as Curriculum Coordinator for Secondary Mathematics and Science, a position she has held for the past three years. She previously served students as a high school mathematics instructor. “I am grateful to be going into a school with such a rich history of exemplary character, high expectations, and hard-working faculty and staff. I’m excited to offer encouragement and enthusiastic support to the whole Cavalier family so that they will be ready for anything that they encounter.”

The appointment was approved by the School Board after reconvening from closed session. “Mrs. Perry’s continued support of excellent teaching and learning practices will propel FCMS students to continued success as they strive to exceed their learning goals,” said Mrs. Sandy Strayer, Superintendent.

Kyana Smith

The School Board of Henry County approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to fill the Magna Vista High School Head Girls’ Basketball Coach position at its June 6 meeting.

Ms. Kyana Smith will be the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Magna Vista High School. An Army veteran, Smith has served students in the community as an athletic trainer and athletic support specialist. She has also supported MVHS basketball as a volunteer JV girls’ basketball coach.

“I’m humbled to have been selected as the new Head Girls’ Basketball Coach for Magna Vista. I’m grateful to Mr. Byrd for entrusting me with the task of coaching and leading the most prestigious girls’ basketball program in the area,” said Smith, adding, “I’m eager to continue to build upon the foundation that has been laid before me. We have tremendous talent returning to the program and I’m excited to see what the season and future of the program will hold.”

The appointment was approved by the School Board after reconvening from closed Session. “As a former girls’ basketball player who played on both the high school and college level as well as having an established rapport with our team members, I’m confident that Ms. Smith will lead our program to continued success,” said Mr. Charles Byrd, MVHS principal.
