The Martinsville Police Department said one person is recovering after being shot in Martinsville this weekend. Officers responded to the parking lot of a gas station on 937 East Church Street around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2. Police say evidence suggests that someone was shot as a result of an attempted armed robbery.

Several vehicles and the building were hit with bullets. One person was also hit and was taken to SOVAH before being flown to Carilion in Roanoke for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they have a person of interest in connection with the shooting and they say surveillance video at the gas station showed them what happened. The case is currently under investigation and no further information will be given for now.
