More details on the closed-door meeting earlier this week… Mayor Kathy Lawson tells the media Council members began reviewing the first draft of three required studies with consultants. The studies are required by law and involve how the change would affect the school system, and the localities involved. Lawson wouldn’t say what the study’s reveal, but she is saying reversion looks like the best option.

If Martinsville becomes a town, all of the constitutional jobs would become the responsibility of the county. So would the school system. Council voted against reversion 6-years ago, but it appears the current Council may have run out of options trying to serve the needs of the City with a dwindling budget.

No word on when Council might share its findings with the public.
