The body of a man was found Tuesday in Philpott Lake. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Coleman Lewis Hale, 73, was found dead in the water not far from where his boat was located, two miles from the Ryan’s Branch dock. Nothing suspicious is expected regarding the death of Hale, the sheriff’s office says.

A two-week-old baby is alive today thanks to Danville Police officer Melissa Carey who was eating lunch at Nikki’s Family Restaurant on Riverside Drive when a waitress ran to her table asking for help with a two-week-old boy who had stopped breathing and was choking.

An 86-year-old woman died Tuesday in a two-car crash in Franklin County. Virginia State Police say a passenger in one of the vehicles, Jean Young Mattox of Rocky Mount, was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial where she died. The accident happened around 1 p.m. on Route 220, at the intersection of Route 615 in Franklin County.

If you’re annoyed with robocalls, you’re not alone. A new study ranks Virginia 10th in the country for robocall complaints. The study uses the latest data from the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission. In the U.S., there were 3.5 billion telemarketing and robocalls made to mobile phones in April 2019, according to the study. The site says robocalls are only going to keep rising as artificial intelligence technology expands.
