Power outage uptown

The power in uptown Martinsville went out at 6:07 Saturday evening. Traffic signals along Commonwealth and Liberty were also out.

Martinsville electric department officials said a circuit went out at the Watt Street substation and repairs were made and the power was restored shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Then on Sunday morning a glitch developed in the city’s Minet fiber operations that affected some of the city’s street lights.

Workers made repairs throughout the day and finished around 7:30 Sunday evening.

The outage affected our studios on Franklin Street and WHEE Radio and WYAT-TV were both off the air Saturday evening and for most of the day on Sunday.
