Martinsville, VA – On February 20, 2022 at approximately 9:30 pm, the Martinsville Police
Department responded to Sparky’s Food Store, located at 604 Starling Avenue, in reference to a robbery.
According to the store owner, a black male, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt
wearing a red bandana over his face, entered the store and produced a hand gun and demanded money.
After a brief struggle with the owner, the suspect was able to grab the cash register and flee from the store.
The suspect left in a dark colored vehicle. Investigators and officers processed the scene for evidence.
No one was hurt during the incident.
