A Martinsville Police officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries on Sunday after his vehicle was struck head-on while he was responding to a domestic call.
Shortly after 1 p.m. the 911 Communications Center dispatched officers to a domestic situation involving a mother and her juvenile son. The juvenile allegedly rammed a Martinsville Police vehicle with a four-door passenger vehicle head-on near the intersection of Jefferson Circle and Finley Street.
Martinsville Police Chief Rob Fincher said the juvenile fled on foot after the crash and was captured by another officer after a brief struggle.
The officer driving the police vehicle was transported to the hospital where he was examined and treated for minor injuries.
Fincher said the Virginia State Police have been asked to investigate the crash
