million conversion announced for City Hall building

The Martinsville City Council has approved planning to convert the Municipal Building into a courthouse at an estimated cost of $46 million. The city said Wednesday it hired Moseley Architects to begin design and schematic work. The move follows a 2024 court order finding the city’s district and juvenile court facilities out of compliance with state requirements. Officials say renovating the Municipal Building would cost far less than building a new courthouse, estimated at $100 million.
