Assessments up 45%, no increase in taxes in Henry County

Henry County Commissioner of Revenue Tiffany Hairston says real estate tax appraisals are showing an average of 45% increase. The Board of Supervisors has granted her a one-year extension, until January, 2026, to get assessments out and a contractor might be hired to help.

Henry County decided not to raise real estate taxes from 55.5 cents to 61 cents per $100 of assessed value to cover an increased mandate from the state to the school system. The board of supervisors voted to pull the $3 million plus needed from reserves.
