Martinsville City Council member Rayshaun O’Shea Gravely was charged Thursday following a traffic stop by Martinsville police.
Police said Gravely was stopped around 10:30 a.m. on Commonwealth Boulevard and charged with driving on a suspended license and operating a vehicle with an expired inspection. He is scheduled to appear in Martinsville General District Court on July 23.
Driving on a suspended license is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia. The charges have not been adjudicated, and Gravely is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
