Henry County is addressing a housing crisis, but Danville’s got it bad. A study in August, 2022 showed 3,900 new jobs had come to the city, creating a demand for nearly 1,600 apartments and over 230 single-family homes. Developer Brent Cochran has announced he will be converting the former W. Townes Lea Elementary School in southwest Danville into 31 apartments. Two-bedrooms will rent for $1,200 a months and a one-bedroom will go for $900 to $1,000. They are expected to be ready in April of next year.
