Board denies data center

UPDATE:

The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors voted against a request by a company to build a data center in Chalk Level. The project was to have created nearly 400 jobs, but neighbors complained, the Planning Commission recommended against his, and the Board of Supervisors voted 6-1 last night to turn the request down.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Balico data center rezoning application has been withdrawn, but the company says they are now considering developing a residential subdivision on the 750-acre property in Pittsylvania County. A planned meeting involving Balico’s plans is still on for tonight at Chatham High School.
