Dylan O’Brien may just make his return to the small screen.
The actor is set to lead the Hulu comedy pilot Lex, ABC Audio has confirmed. This would mark his first series role since he starred as Stiles on MTV’s Teen Wolf.
Lex follows the titular disgraced former reality star (O’Brien), who accidentally films a murder while making a $20 Cameo video. This finds Lex at the center of a global conspiracy and forces him to go on the run.
“Using the skills he acquired navigating reality TV’s toxic social dynamics, Lex must fight to not get killed, to expose the truth, and most importantly… to get back on TV,” according to a description from the outlet.
In addition to starring in Lex, O’Brien will executive produce the pilot. He will do so alongside its writer, Sean Clements, as well as Paul Simms.
Disney is the parent company of ABC News and Hulu.

The 25th anniversary edition of New York’s Tribeca Festival kicks off Wednesday night with a screening of a new Earth, Wind & Fire documentary, followed by a performance by the legendary band. The festival, which runs through June 14, features TV, movie and documentary screenings, plus premieres, panels, reunions and stars galore. Not bad for an event that started as a one-off.
The festival was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal as a way to revitalize downtown New York City after the 9/11 terror attacks. “It was only, how could we bring people back downtown, how we could give our neighbors something to look forward to. As far as I was concerned, it was one and done,” Rosenthal told ABC Audio. “Bob always believed we were gonna do it again, though.”
“I felt very positive about it once it happened,” De Niro said. “My feeling was it’d be great if it could be part of the fabric of New York, a New York tradition that just goes on forever, you know?”
De Niro will also appear at one of this year’s special events: a 50th anniversary Taxi Driver screening and conversation with him, director Martin Scorsese and co-star Jodie Foster. De Niro said celebrating any of his films — even a classic like Taxi Driver — after the fact isn’t something he ever thought would happen.
“When you’re doing a movie, a project, you don’t ever think that it would be received in the way you’re saying Taxi Driver’s been received, ever,” he told ABC Audio. “You just don’t think that. So it’s nice, but you just don’t ever expect it … it’s just, you do the project and that’s it.”
The festival will close with the documentary Alicia Keys: Girl from Hell’s Kitchen; Keys will appear after the screening.

After 20 years, Andy Sachs, Miranda Priestly and the gang at Runway magazine are still in fashion.
According to Box Office Mojo, The Devil Wears Prada 2 — featuring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Street, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt —launches at #1 at the box office with $77 million in its opening weekend. As Varietynotes, the original only took in $27.5 million in its first weekend back in 2006.
The sequel’s debut is the fourth-biggest one of the year, as per Variety, behind only The Super Mario Galaxy Movie with $131 million; Michael, with $97.5 million; and Project Hail Mary, with $80 million.
Last week’s number one, the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, dropped to #2 but still took in $54 million. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie slid from #2 to #3 with $12 million, while Project Hail Mary dropped one spot to #4 with $8.5 million.
There were four new entries in the top 10: the horror film Hokum, starring Adam Scott, in at #5; a new take on George Orwell’s Animal Farm at #6; the survival thriller Deep Water at #8; and in at #9 is what must surely take the prize for the longest film title of the year, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea. That last one is the second installment of an anime franchise based on a series of Japanese young adult novels.

Somebody once told me Donkey is getting his own movie.
DreamWorks Animation has officially announced that a Shrek spinoff film centered on the character of Donkey is headed to movie theaters. It will arrive on big screens on June 30, 2028.
The studio announced the news on Instagram Thursday.
“Start heating up those waffle irons. DONKEY is setting out on his very own adventure June 30, 2028,” the post’s caption reads.
The new movie will be an origin story following how Donkey came to be, according to Deadline, which broke the story. Eddie Murphy will once again voice the animated talking animal.
The Lego Batman Movie‘s Charlie Bean is set to direct Donkey, while Matt Flynn will co-direct. Rebecca Huntley will produce it.
Murphy previously spoke about this upcoming Donkey spinoff in an interview with Screen Rant in July 2025.
“We’re doing a Donkey one, and that’ll [be released] three years from now,” Murphy said at the time. “Donkey‘s going to be like how Puss in Boots had his own movie, Donkey’s going to have his own movie — [his] own little story with his dragon wife and his kids that are half-dragon and half-donkeys. They’ve written this funny story.”
A fifth Shrek film is set to release in theaters a year ahead of the Donkey movie on June 30, 2027.
DreamWorks previously made two other Shrek spinoff films. Puss in Boots was released in 2011, while its sequel, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, debuted in 2022.
