In addition to being an Oscar-nominated actress, Kate Hudson is a singer who released her debut album, Glorious, in 2024. Now she’s dropped a holiday single that finds her covering a Christmas rock classic.
Hudson recorded The Band‘s song “Christmas Must Be Tonight,” which originally appeared on their 1977 album, Islands. It wastheir last album to feature the group’s original lineup. It was written by The Band’s guitarist, Robbie Robertson, and was partly inspired by the birth of his son. He later recorded a solo version for the soundtrack of the 1988 Bill Murray movie Scrooged.
“When you speak of The Band, you are speaking directly to the heart, soul and backbone of rock’s roots,” Hudson says in a statement, calling the group’s music “organic,” “breathtaking” and “real.” She adds, “It was an honor to re-record it.”
‘Wheel of Fortune’ crowns biggest winner in show’s history. (ABC)
A Connecticut woman became the biggest winner in Wheel of Fortune history Tuesday night after taking home more than $1 million in prizes.
Christina Derevjanik of Stamford, Connecticut, won a total of $1,035,155, becoming only the fourth contestant ever to land the show’s $1 million grand prize and the first since Ryan Seacrest took over as host, according to a press release.
Over the course of the game, Derevjanik collected $35,155 in cash and prizes, including trips to Montana and Tokyo, before advancing to the bonus round. She chose the category “Living Things” and correctly solved the puzzle, “PACK OF COYOTES.”
Seacrest then revealed the $1 million envelope, sparking confetti and cheers as Derevjanik celebrated her historic win.
Co-host Vanna White hugged her, saying, “I’m so happy for you!” Seacrest added, “Congratulations, you’re my first million-dollar winner. I have a tear in my eye.”
Following the episode, Seacrest told her she had become the biggest winner in the show’s history, to which Derevjanik responded, “I have no words!”
Derevjanik later admitted, “I was trying to manifest this. I was hoping for confetti, but I never thought it would actually happen.”
Outside the game show spotlight, Derevjanik works in marketing for a utilities company. In her free time, she enjoys solving puzzles, watching Hallmark movies and hiking with her dog, Hazel. An avid runner, she has completed 11 half marathons and one full marathon.
The $1 million grand prize wedge was first introduced in 2008 during the show’s 26th season.
To claim it, contestants must land on the wedge, solve the puzzle and make it to the bonus round without hitting bankruptcy.
The prize has only been awarded three times before, including to Michelle Lowenstein in 2008, Autumn Erhard in 2013 and Sarah Manchester in 2014.

We Were Liars is coming back for another season.
Prime Video has renewed the hit mystery-thriller series for season 2. The show, which is based on the bestselling novel by E. Lockhart, will return for a sophomore season from co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie.
“We loved making this show with so many spectacular humans,” Plec and Mackenzie said in a press release. “The fan response was truly special. There are still plenty of secrets buried on Beechwood Island and we can’t wait to keep digging them up.”
Lockhart also weighed in on the show’s renewal, saying, “MacKenzie and Plec have big, big plans for season two, including everything readers of my books are dying to see onscreen — and a lot of surprises as well.”
Season 1 of We Were Liars told the story of Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her inner circle, nicknamed the Liars, as they enjoy summer on her grandfather’s New England private island.
“The Sinclairs are American royalty—known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond—but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever, everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide,” according to its official synopsis.
Emily Alyn Lind led the cast as Cadence Sinclair Eastman in season 1. The ensemble was also made up of Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis, Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.
