One dead after triple shooting

UPDATE:

From the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office:

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office received notification that 82-year-old Margie Watkins of Axton Virginia succumbed to her injuries this morning that she received during the incident at 2838 Sandy River Rd., Axton. The body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy. Charges are pending, once obtained we will provide an update.

There was speculation that a protective order or restraining order had been obtained but we have been unable to find such information, there is no record of such an order.

One victim has been released from the hospital and one remains in ICU at this time.

Investigators are actively working this case.

31-year-old Telvin Hairston of Martinsville was apprehended by Henry County Sheriff’s deputies at the Valero in Laurel Park Saturday afternoon shortly after Pittsylvania County deputies responded to 2388 Sandy River Road in Axton and found three people shot. All three were flown to hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

On Sunday, the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said Hairston had been charged with three counts of malicious wounding, three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a felon, and armed burglary. He was jailed in the Pittsylvania County Jail under no bond.

One of the three victims was in critical but stable condition and the other two victims were in stable condition on Saturday. The incident appeared to have occurred due to a domestic relations issue, a release stated.
