Annie Turner Cassell, 96, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026. She was born on December 4, 1929, in Glade Hill, Virginia, to the late Owen Hall and Annie Hubbard Hall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.G. Cassell; an infant daughter; her son, Natheniel Gary Turner; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Annie was a member of Glade Hill Baptist Church and worked for several years at J.C. Penney as a salesclerk. She also worked as a hairdresser on the side. Annie was an overall hard worker who enjoyed gardening, especially growing vegetables and flowers.

Annie is survived by her son, Tony Turner, and her grandchildren, Amanda Katherine Turner and Brittney Lynn Turner.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Carilion Hospice for the love, care, and attention shown to them and their loved one during their time in hospice care.
