Obituaries

Barbara Ann Hodges Osborne, 81, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned from her earthly life Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born in Henry County on New Year’s Day, January 1, 1944, to the late Mary Alma Hodges.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Akers Osborne; infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Osborne; sons, James Lee Osborne, Harry “Pete” William Osborne; stepson Earl Osborne; and sister, Wilma George.

Barbara worked many years in the furniture industry and poured her life into her children. Her love for them ran deep and was shown in how she cared for the needs of her disabled son, Jimmy, for 36 years. Barbara loved her cats, and she found joy in the beauty of flowers and finding treasures at yard sales in earlier years.

Left to honor and cherish her memories are her daughter, Rosie Fay Bowman (Jerry); stepson, Richard Osborne (Patsy); and many extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Cemetery, 711 Church Street, Ridgeway, Virginia 24148, with Rev. A.C. Palmer officiating.
