Mrs. Barbara Ann Mitchell Hopkins, age 96 of Stuart, Virginia, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026. She was born in Patrick County on March 7, 1930, to the late Lewis Harrison Mitchell and Ida Mae Beasley Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jefferson Hopkins; one daughter, Linda Gale Hopkins; one son, Paul David Hopkins; one sister, Ruby Marie Mitchell; and three brothers, James Randolph Mitchell, Guilford Norman Mitchell, and Billy Graham Mitchell, Sr. Mrs. Hopkins retired from United Elastic and then went on to volunteer at the Patrick County Public Library for many years. She was a faithful member of the Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church in Stuart, where she served as treasurer, as a member of the ladies’ auxiliary, and loved singing with the church band that was jokingly called “The Fairview Over The Hill Gang”. She enjoyed caring for her cat Cleo and spending time with her family and her church family.

Left to cherish the memories of Barbara are two devoted granddaughters, Sondra Miller and husband, Brian; and Andrea Hopkins; four beloved great-grandsons, Draden Goins, Alex Miller, Blake Miller, and A. Scott Miller; and a caring daughter-in-law, Vada Hopkins.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hopkins will be held at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 p.m. Her church family was such a blessing to her, Barbara requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church, 46264 Salem Highway, Stuart, VA 24171.
