Obituary For Barbara Jean Simpson
Barbara Jean Simpson, age 86, of Axton, Virginia, went to her heavenly home on March 14, 2026. She was born on January 25, 1939, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Bland Alvis Turner and Bonnie Mae Turner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Charles Anthony Simpson; her precious daughter, Patricia “Pattie” Simpson; and her sister, Sherry Ihrig.
Mrs. Simpson loved the Lord with all her heart and was known by those closest to her as a true prayer warrior. Her faith guided her life, and she prayed faithfully and unceasingly for her family and all those she loved. Barbara was happiest at home, where she devoted her life to her family as a loving and faithful homemaker. She gave of herself endlessly, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Barbara was also a talented and creative woman who enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Through her hands she created many beautiful things, but the greatest thing she built in her life was a family rooted in love. She was a devoted mother and a proud, doting grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Annamarie Wright; sons, Charles Anthony “Buddy” Simpson, Jr. (Deborah), Robert Michael “Mike” Simpson (Lisa), and William Aubrey “Chip” Simpson (Paula); her beloved grandchildren, Michael, Jade, Kara, Amanda, Christopher, and Thomas; and her precious great-grandchildren, Envy, Scarlette, Maxx, Maison, and Eliana.
Though her family’s hearts are heavy with loss, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. Her kindness, prayers, and unwavering love will live on through the many lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Christ’s Church (1425 Spruce St. Ext, Martinsville, Virginia) with Pastor Tim Bredamus officiating. Visitation for Mrs. Simpson will be held one hour prior to the service.
Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory is serving the Simpson family.
