Obituaries

Bernice Mayhew Jenkins, 85, of Bassett, passed on Wednesday March 3, 2026. She was born January 11, 1940, to the late Jessie Bennett and Jocie Irene Prillaman Mayhew. She worked with Danville Hospital before becoming disabled. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Jenkins, and sister, Eloise Mayhew.

Surviving are one daughter, Cindy Preeman, brother, Reggis Mayhew, and grandson, Charlie Preeman III, two great-great grandchildren and Nephew and nieces.

At Bernice's request there will be no services other than family receiving friends from 1-2 P.M Thursday, March 12, 2026, in Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
