Billy Melvin Sowers, 74, of Henry, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, April 24, 2026. He was born on March 2, 1952, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Bill Stegall and Freda Hall Nelson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura (Head) Sowers.

Billy was of the Christian faith and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Henry, Virginia. He was a dedicated truck driver, working in the transportation industry for three decades. Billy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who demonstrated a deep love for his family.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors while finding joy in fishing, cars, and riding motorcycles.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Billy Wayne Sowers (Sherri); two grandchildren, Logan Blake Sowers and Aiden Cole Sowers; and his companion Michelle “Missy” Brown.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Stegall-Harris-Pruitt Family Cemetery.
