Obituaries

Charles “Charlie” Edward Spencer, 61, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026. He was born on July 26, 1964, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Paul Fredrick Spencer and Ruby Ethel Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark Edward Spencer; sister, Patricia Southerland; and brothers, Donald Spencer and George Spencer.

Charles was of the Christian faith and attended Life Church as often as he could. He worked many years as a maintenance technician but found time for the things he enjoyed most like fishing, hunting, outdoor grilling, and NASCAR. Whether at the lake or the river, he found contentment in being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Wagner Spencer; daughters, Heather Edwards (Charles), Ashley Ratcliff (Donnie); son, Jeffrey Fain; sisters, Shirley Hancock, Viola Walsh, Linda Carter; grandchildren, Adalynn Tickle, Jaxson Tickle, Aubree Tickle, Jeremy Edwards, Annabelle Edwards, Charlotte Edwards, Jeff Fain, Jr., Andrew Fain, Alexis Fain, Remington Fain, Henry Fain, Lesley Ratcliff, Alexander Ratcliff; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Dennis Cline officiating.
