Obituaries

Charlie Grant “C.G.” Hairston, 64, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned to his heavenly home Sunday, November 30, 2025. He was born February 23, 1961, in Stuart, Virginia, to the late Howard Hairston and Eva Dell Hagwood Hairston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn Hairston and Linda Mae Hairston.

Charlie attended Galilean House of Worship and loved going to church and loved God to the fullest. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a hardworking, dependable man that loved to work. You could find him working on cars and he was always willing to give a helping hand to someone out. He enjoyed yard work, and he had a gift of dance. He loved to dance, and it showed when he got on the dance floor, it looked like he was dancing on air. Charlie never met a stranger and loved talking to and meeting new people. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them all and making memories to cherish for years to come.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hines; daughters, Britany Hairston (Bryan), Ashley Maxwell Hairston (Michael); sisters, Kimberly Hairston, Penelope Hairston Davis (Michael), Martha Hairston (Charlie), and Janet H. Baldwin; brothers, Howard Lee Hairston (Gladys) and George Henry Hairston (Thalya); grandchildren, Jayden Maxwell and Graycen Maxwell; and many extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service – Martinsville Chapel. A funeral Service will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service – Martinsville Chapel. A visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. Visitation at other times will be held at the residence – 706 Mulberry Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112.
