Obituaries

Cheryl Faye Cassada Gauldin, 71, of Axton, Virginia, transitioned to her heavenly home Tuesday, March 17, 2026. She was born October 18, 1954, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Calvin Dallas Cassada and Cora Earles Moore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Douglas Marshall Gauldin; and brother, Larry Norman Cassada.

Cheryl was a woman of Christian faith and attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where she found a loving faith community. She found encouragement in listening to preaching. She was a a dedicated employee of Nylstar in the textile industry. She loved her dogs and in her leisure time, Cheryl enjoyed watching television and traveling to the beach and the mountains.

Her memory will forever be in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her including her daughter, Kimberly Viers (Jerry); brother, Terry Casada (Linda); grandchildren, Ashley McMillon, April Duey (Brandon), Jason Viers, Kaitlyn Collins (Jake), and Aaron Harmon (Hannah); ten great-grandchildren, Breanna Weaver, Haley Weaver, Brooklyn McMillon, Sadie Duey, Zoey Duey, Waylon Collins, William Collins, Caroline Elkins, Allison Elkins, Baby Harmon; sister-in-law, Dawn Cassada; life long friends, Debra Hill and Mildred Gregory; and her furbaby, Buddy.

A funeral will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Robby Benfield officiating. Interment will follow at Cassada Family Cemetery located at 5269 Mountain Valley Road, Axton, Virginia 24054. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.The family will receive extended family and friends at 5651 Mountain Valley Road, Axton, Virgina.
