Obituary For Clarence Dwight Robertson
Clarence Dwight Robertson, 77, of Ridgeway, Virginia, entered his Heavenly Rest Sunday, March 8, 2026. He was born May 21, 1948, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Clarence Lee Robertson and Naomi Kallam Robertson.
Predeceased by the mother of his children Elizabeth (Betty) Robertson, son Daniel Scott Robertson, sister Wanda Robertson and brother David Robertson.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years Martha Webber Robertson, his daughters; Cindy (Stephen) Hammed and Susan Robertson, stepson Jay Patrick (Michele) Dalton.
He is also survived by his sisters and brother; Brenda (Paul) Secord, Gilda (J.C.) Compton, Betty Merchant and Jim (Beth) Robertson; grandchildren, Skyler Robertson, Saylor Robertson, Emilie (Chandler) Jearls, Jacob (Rosi) Hammed, Elizabeth Hammed, Benjamin Hammed, Decateur Davis, DeCarlos McCullough, Walter Cousin, Wade Cousin, Westyn Cousin. Also survived by step grandchildren, Grayson Dalton, Adelyn Dalton, Harrison Dalton and numerous nieces and nephews. Also leaves behind his “Fur Baby Bear” and his dedicated friend Jimmy Hughes.
Graduate of Drewry Mason High School, Ridgeway, Virginia, Class of 1966. He served his country in the United Staes Army during the Vietnam conflict. After returning home from serving his country he was employed by E.I. duPont in Martinsville, Virginia until the plant closed in 1998. He then acquired a HVAC Certification at Patrick & Henry Community College and after that entered Danville Technical Institute in Danville, Virginia for an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.
After a lot of decision making, he decided to wear another uniform and that was with the Martinsville City Sheriff’s Department where he was promoted to Sergeant. He retired after 15 years of service on May 28, 2015. “It was his passion to run a tight ship.”
He had a compassion for making people feel comfortable in a cheerful manner.
He had a natural ability to socialize and make friends. “He never met a stranger that he didn’t like.”
The Roberston family sincerely appreciates all the telephone calls, text messages, cards, food, visits and prayers bestowed upon them during the time of Dwight’s illness.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the hospice group (AMEDISYS) for their compassionate care.
The memorial service will be Friday, March 13, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service & Crematory, Martinsville, Virginia, with Pastor Paul Secord officiating. A visitation will be at 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to service and other times at the residence.
