Dennis J. Cook, 63, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA.

Born and raised in the community he cherished, Dennis was a graduate of Laurel Park High School. He carried throughout his life the values of hard work, kindness, and dedication that became hallmarks of his character. Dennis also attended Reach Out Apostolic Tabernacle, where he found strength in his faith and joy in fellowship with his church family.

Dennis will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, and willingness to help anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Lester Cook, Sr., and two brothers, Charles Cook, Jr. and Kim Cook.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Suprena Cook of Martinsville, VA; his mother, Elsie Thomas Cook of Martinsville, VA; one sister, Nyora C. Yates and her husband Willis of Martinsville, VA; three brothers, Dale Cook, and his wife Lorena of Axton, VA, Victor Cook and Allen Michal Cook and his wife LaKeisha both of Martinsville, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville with Bishop Lorenzo Hall, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville.

The family will receive friends at Hairston Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, Elsie Cook, 291 Harris St., Martinsville.
