Obituary For Elizabeth Christine Patrick Dye
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Christine Patrick Dye, born on July 12, 1964, in Richlands, Virginia, who left this world on May 8, 2026, at her home in Spencer, Virginia, after a courageous ten year battle with cancer. Though her body faced relentless challenges, her spirit remained steadfast—full of grace, generosity, and quiet strength until her final moments.
Elizabeth was a loving wife and a devoted mother, roles she embraced with her whole heart. Her family was the center of her life, and she poured limitless love, patience, and care into those she held closest. No matter how tired or unwell she felt, she continued to show up for them—offering comfort, guidance, and unwavering support. Her home became a refuge of warmth and understanding because she made it so.
Her compassion extended far beyond her own family. Elizabeth had a remarkable gift for helping others, even total strangers. She sensed when someone was hurting and offered kindness without hesitation. She gave freely, never expecting anything in return, touching countless lives through her quiet acts of love.
Her final days came after beginning another round of chemotherapy that led to complications her body could not overcome. She faced this last chapter with the same courage and grace that defined her entire life.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Lilly Ann Patrick; her father, David Henry Patrick; and her beloved husband, James Micheal Dye, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Heather Lynn Dye and Jeffrey Harrison; her sisters Margaret Ann Elswick, Carolyn Diane Patrick, and Kathy Lynn Patrick; and her brother, David Jackson Patrick. She is also survived by her stepson, James Michael Dye, Jr., and his wife Terry Dye; her sisters in law Jeannie Ward and Wendy Dye White; step grandchildren Taylor Ann Dye, Samara Arms, Brittany Nichole Dye, and Rashiah Belcher; her great grandchild, Myla Elizabeth Belcher; as well as 12 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and great nephews. She also leaves behind her dearest friend, Gale Beggarly, who remained a constant source of love and support throughout her life.
Though she is no longer with us, Elizabeth’s legacy of love and compassion lives on in every heart she touched. We will remember her laughter, her kindness, and her unshakable spirit — and we will strive to live as she did: loving deeply, giving freely, and finding strength in each new day.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
