Obituaries

Elizabeth “Inez” Riddle, 66, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned to her heavenly home Friday, February 13, 2026. She was born in Callands, Virginia, on April 10, 1959, to the late Robert Lee Riddle and Mildred Gauldin Riddle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie L. Riddle; and great-nephew, Nicholas Hunt.

Inez was of the Christian faith and part of the Baptist denomination. She was a dedicated worker in furniture manufacturing for over three decades. Known for her kindness, she loved others deeply and even had a tender heart toward animals such as dogs and cats. She even nursed a wounded buzzard back to health in her home, another demonstration of her gentle spirit. Inez loved horses and found joy in capturing their beauty in art form.

She poured her heart and soul into everything she did, including caring for her mother for several years. Her nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her “Inie,” knew they could count on her to help them with anything they needed; they especially loved their time spent roller skating with her each weekend.

Those left to treasure her memory are her sisters, Lois Barker (Barry), Judy Barnes, Melissa Riddle; nieces, Michelle Barnes, Lauren Riddle; nephews, Bradley Barker (Rebekah), Jeffrey Barker (Tiffany), Christian Tipold (Deborah), David Barnes, Christopher Riddle (Andrea); great-nieces and nephews, Heather Hunt (Jarrett), Benjamin Hunt, Josh Barnes, Winry Riddle, Kayla Nichols (Parker), Madison Barker, Reagan Barker, Julian Davis, Zayne Davis, Austin Tipold, Hunter Tipold; a host of extended family and friends.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for the compassionate love and care shown to Inez, ensuring that her final days were ones of comfort, peace, and dignity.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel.
