Obituary For Gavin Cole Hutcherson
Gavin Cole Hutcherson, 13, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. He was born on December 19, 2012, in Danville, Virginia to Heather Coleman Joyce and Randall Hutcherson (Kim).
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Stephen Joyce; papa, Doug Hutcherson; and maternal grandparents, Howard and Sandra Coleman.
Gavin was a seventh grader at Victory Baptist Church Academy. He loved Jesus, was saved through his confession of faith, and attended New Life Community Church.
Gavin was a bright young man who brought joy and laughter to those around him. He loved his family dearly and especially cherished the bond he shared with his brother, Evan. Gavin even wanted a car just like his brother someday. He enjoyed trips to Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s, along with ice cream and all kinds of chocolate treats. Gavin loved the outdoors and enjoyed the beach, the lake, and the pool, where he loved to swim. He also enjoyed playing video games, building Legos, and collected army men. Gavin had a feisty spirit and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Left to cherish his memories, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Julio Evan Campos; sister, Kelsie Rea; granny, Jeannie Hutcherson; grandparents, Danny and Joan Joyce; great grandma, Jean Neville; aunts, Cindy Ray (Patrick), Alison Holt (Brad), and Amanda Worrell (Mitchell); uncle, Jason Coleman (Jennifer); cousins, Emily Ray, Mallory Ray, Shyanne Holt, Jake Holt, Abigail Worrell, Ian Coleman, and Abigail Coleman; fur babies, Cinnamon, Oreo, Drake, Lucy, Sophie, Debbie Snacks, and Vegas; and numerous extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at New Life Community Church with Pastor Terry Knighten officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman Family Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Life Community Church, 415 Mica Road Ridgeway, Virginia 24148.
