Gerald Lee Cassady, 78, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026.

Born to the late Leonard Cassady and Carlene Dodson Cassady, Gerald lived a life defined by devotion to his family, his faith, and his community. He was a man of quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Brenda Cassady, whose partnership and love were the foundation of his life. He also leaves behind his cherished son, Morgan Cassady; two beloved sisters, Julia Faye Watkins (Lewis) and Ann Shelton (Melvin); and four nieces, Glenda Pruitt (David), Annette Bullins (Allen), Melanie Seay, and Kim Farmer (Chad). He is also survived by his dear aunt, Ruth Cassady.

Gerald’s heart was especially full when surrounded by his treasured companions—his beloved furbabies, Lilly, Reece, Finley, and Lucy—who brought him endless comfort and joy.

A faithful member of Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church, Gerald served as a dedicated deacon for many years. His commitment to his church family and his steadfast faith were evident in his daily life, as he quietly led by example, offering support, wisdom, and compassion to those around him.

There will be a funeral service at Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at noon, with a visitation one hour prior.

Gerald will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his deep love for his family, and his enduring faith. His legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
