Obituaries

Harry Waller, 85, of Axton, Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1940, in Dry Fork, Virginia, to the late Samuel Waller and Lillie Inge Waller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ophelia Waller, Nellie Tarpley, and Clara Millner; and his brother, Willie Waller.

Harry was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Holiness Church. He retired after many years of dedicated service at Hooker Furniture. Harry was known for his strong work ethic and servant’s heart. He enjoyed farming, raising hogs, gardening, mowing yards, and plowing snow. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors by clearing their driveways and assisting wherever he could. One of his favorite pastimes was grocery shopping. Harry will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and love for his family and community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Martin Waller; daughters, Sandra Waller Hairston (Patrick) and Sharon Roberts (William); son, Gary Waller (Gloria); brother, Conrad Waller (Voilet); grandchildren, Lakendal Gravely, Darius Waller, LeDante’ Boler, and Tajiyona Hairston; great-grandchildren, Asanti Gravely, Ilani Gravely, Ty’maurie Tinsley, Tyriq Tinsley, and Kenedi Gravely; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Mt. Sinai Holiness Church in Axton, Virginia. Interment will follow in the Watkins Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
