Herbert Leland Hage, 79, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born in Eveleth, Minnesota on July 9, 1946, raised in Cotton, Minnesota and worked as an operating engineer in Minnesota and Florida, until retirement.

In November, 1989, he was united in marriage to Kathleen (Bodas) Hage. They relocated to Florida in January 1999 and to the state of Virginia in April 2025. Herbert loved attending car shows to check out all the vintage cars and visiting construction sites to investigate the various heavy equipment being used. He had a green thumb and took pride in planting flowers, bushes and trees, and making sure all were trimmed, watered and thriving.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathleen (Bodas) Hage, stepson Robert Frost, grandchildren Amanda (Jordan) Young, Ashley (David) Elsner, Caryn (Mike) Ranum, Trent Barden, great grandchildren Greyson Frost, Bristol Young, Jordynn Elsner, Kobe Elsner, Ryder Elsner, Medea Wendling, his brother Barry (Marcia) Hage, sisters Phobe (Bob) Maki, Kathy Fisher, sisters-in-law Susan Hage and Carolyn Hage, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Harold and Blanche (Randall) Hage, sister Peggy Mitshulis, brothers Dennis Hage, Roger Hage, Bruce Hage, brother-in-law Bill Fisher, Richard Bodas, sisters-in-law Barbara Hage, Marilyn Bodas, sons Shawn Hage, Shane Hage, and stepson Cameron Frost.
