Isla Collins Scarce, 77, of the Whitmell community, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

She was born in Axton, Va., on November 26, 1944, a daughter of the late William Edwin Collins and Gracie Ellen Wilson Collins.

Isla was a Teacher for Henry County Public Schools for 35 years. She was a member of Whitmell Christian Church, where she played the piano for 61 years.

On December 20, 1970, she married Ernest James Scarce, who passed on February 29, 2004.

Survivors include a son, Roscoe Scarce (Stormy); a daughter, Dawn Scarce; a brother, Randy Wayne Collins (Terri); her stepchildren, Betty Garrett (Donald), Henry Scarce (Jennifer), Joe Scarce (Debbie), and Virgil Scarce (Karen); two grandchildren, Katie Scarce and Bryan Scarce, nine step-grandchildren, and 16 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Minister Jim Dawes. Interment will follow in the Scarce Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, September 5, 2022, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times residence of Roscoe and Stormy Scarce, 451 Garden Drive, Dry Fork, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Whitmell Christian Church or to Tunstall Fire & Rescue.
