Obituary For James Lee Prock
James Lee Prock, aged 80, of Basset, Virginia, passed into God’s presence on Friday, March 27, 2026. He was born on November 29, 1945, in Akron, Ohio, to the late William R. Prock and Laura Phelps Prock. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Leona M. McDonald; brother, William and sister-in-law, Shirley Prock; sister-in-law, Pat Heisher Prock; sister, Fran and brother-in-law, Bernie Christie; sister, Shirley and brother-in-law, Al Ostang; brother-in-law, Sebastian Botz; sons, Jeff and David; and great-granddaughter, Mila Grace Huygens.
James loved the Lord with all his heart, was a man of honor, loved and cherished his family and friends. During his high school years, he worked summers and harvested on the Klinger Farm. He was a 1963 graduate of Kent State University and became a plumber apprentice at K.M. Anderson Plumbing and Heating. Four years later, Jim was hired at Firestone Skilled Trades as a pipe fitter until the plant closed.
Then, he established J.P.’s Remodeling and Design while receiving the license for close look inspection protection- the first commercial and residential real estate inspection service to protect future buyers. A full-time respected contractor, he built homes in Ohio and Pennsylvania. An avid sportsman and lifetime member of the NRA, James and his family enjoyed rugged mountain wilderness.
Completing the International Home Bible Study courses at Stow’s Christian Missionary Alliance Church, James served as an Elder at Tallmadge C.M.A., and Faith Bible Fellowship, Tallmadge, for 17 years. Moving to Westport, PA, in 1995, he served as an Elder at the Emporium C.M.A. until retiring to Virginia in 2017.
In 2005, James was indicted into the Summit County Hall of Fame Boxing Association. He was humbled by the honor. James enjoyed many years of an active, full, God blessed life! But the greatest blessing is eternal life promised by God, who cannot lie, before the beginning of time (New Testament, Book of Titus 1:3). Read, I John 5 11-12, Romans 3:23, I John 1:9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 10:9-10. PRAY. BELIEVE. ACT UPON IT.
Remaining to share the memories of James are his wife of 47 years, Susan J. Prock; daughter, Janene Marie Prock-Beatty and son-in-law, Chief Willis Beatty; sister, Joyce Botz; brother, Tom and sister-in-law, Pixie; brother-in-law, Robert McDonald; Jeffrey D. and wife Kim R. Allem; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jesse, Austin, Raquel, Victoria, Calvin, Clara, Ada, Danielle, Ashley, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Trace, Zoe, Noelle, Benny, Olivia, Nolan, Gavin, Emilia, Kayden, and Olivia Beatty.
