James Monroe Beckner, 78, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026. He was born February 3, 1948, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, to the late Moses Peter Beckner and Bloomfield Childress.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Shea Beckner.

James was of the Baptist faith. He worked 16 years for First Piedmont as a sanitation worker. He loved country music and enjoyed spending time at People’s Gas Station.

He is survived by his stepson, Gene Richard Barrigar; special niece, Jennifer McBride; step-grandchild, Renee Barrigar; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Burial Park.
