John Lester Martin, 82, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026. He was born August 26, 1943, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Nerchel Lester Martin and Lena Irene Turner Martin.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Marie Wheat Martin; and brother, James Curtis Martin.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for many years as an auto body technician, dedicating his career to working on cars; from repair to full restoration. Throughout his career, he was employed by Ed’s Garage, Nelson Ford, and Mitchell Howell Ford; where his skills and strong work ethic were well known. John attended Collinsville Baptist Church and had a deep love for NASCAR and all types of cars, a passion that carried through both his personal life and work.

He is survived by his daughter, Jean Martin Keffer (Gene); sister, Nancy Lucille Martin; extended family and friends.

A Graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia 24112 with Pastor Eric Kieselbach officiating.
