Joseph “Joey” Steven Merriman, 65, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was born on December 31, 1959, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Curtis Darrel Merriman, Sr. and Barbara Ann Gibson Merriman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ricky Merriman, Donnie Merriman and Curtis Merriman, Jr.

Joseph was employed by DDI in Martinsville, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He had a true love for sports and especially enjoyed cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies and watching NASCAR. He was also a loyal fan of the Los Angeles Rams. He found peace in fishing and enjoying quiet moments by the water.

He is survived by his brother, John Merriman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Although services will be private, the family wishes to express their gratitude for the many kindnesses evidenced in thought and deed during this difficult time.
