Joyce Marie Tarpley, 59, of Martinsville, Virginia transitioned Sunday April 12, 2026 at her home. Joyce was born September 19, 1966 in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Bobby Elvis Witcher and Catherine Lampkin Paddyfote. Joyce was a 1984 graduate of Tunstall High School. She was the Cafeteria Manager at Albert Harris Elementary School for over 10 years.

Joyce was always on the go. She loved to decorate, shop, travel, and cater. A true people person, Joyce loved her family and church family She participated on the Praise Team, was a minister and worship leader.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Darryl Tarpley; her daughters, Takeshia Tarpley and Khadija Daniel (Clive); her mother, Catherine Lampkin Paddyfote, sisters, Josephine Smith (Marco), Isis Greene, Cindy Stocks (Kenneth), Shelia H. Redd, Angela Wade; brothers, Kenneth Miller, Jay Paddyfote (Suzanne), Jeff Paddyfote (Justina), Solomon Paddyfote (Natalie).

A funeral will be held Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Tarpley Chapel Baptist Church in Dry Fork, Virginia with Pastor Robert L. Divens, Jr, officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. A floating visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 4:30-7:00 PM.
