Obituaries

Katerra Lytosha “Tosh” Penn Mitchell, 50, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away March 16, 2026. She was born May 2, 1975, to Eugene Penn, Sr. and Cynthia Gamble Penn.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nathaniel and Katherine Brown.

Katerra was a proud graduate of Martinsville High School. She was a dedicated employee at the Hyatt Hotel, where she was known for her commitment and strong work ethic. Katerra cherished her family deeply, especially her nieces and nephews, who brought her immense joy. She had a love for traveling and shopping, always finding happiness in new experiences and creating lasting memories.

She is survived by her parents, Eugene Penn, Sr. and Cynthia Gamble Penn; brothers, Eugene Penn, Terrence Penn, Sr. (Krystal); half-brother, Christopher Stafford; nieces, Deziree, Destiny, JaKayla Penn; nephews, Desean, Magee, Terrence Penn, Jr.; her special cousins, Alicia Kellum, Channie Odom; and friends, Romania Rodrigues, Alexandria Bennett; her maternal grandparents, Charlie and Sarah Gamble; her aunts, Olivia Kellum, Teresa Gamble (deceased), Barbara Hairston Katie King (Tim), Paula Johnson; uncles, Billy Odom, Curtis Brown, Charles Gamble; and numerous extended family and friends.

A funeral will be held Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel. Interment will be held at Carver Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one-half hour prior to funeral service. The family will receive visitors at the residence of 904 Meadow Lane, Martinsville, Virginia 24112 for friends and family starting on Thursday, March 19 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
