Magdalene “Maggie” Cobler Plaster of Ridgeway, Virginia, peacefully passed away at home on January 19, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on June 2, 1939, in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Robert “Jack” Matthew Cobler and Bessie Mae Clark Cobler.

She attended Bassett High School and worked for DuPont on B shift for 34 years. She loved working in her yard and with her husband. And for those who knew her well, they will remember how much she loved to dance.

Maggie is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Marvin Joe Plaster, Sr; brothers, Robert Cobler, Claude Cobler, Elwood Cobler, Wilson Cobler, Doug Cobler; and sisters, Juanita Cobler, Martha Cobler, and Janie Cobler.

She is survived by daughters, Kim Plaster of Ridgeway, VA and Michelle Plaster Johnston (Scott) of Brentwood, TN; son, Marvin Plaster, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; and grandchildren, Tessa Johnston Hampton (Raejon) of Winchester, VA; MaKenna Johnston of Nashville, TN; sisters, Sue Merriman and Jackie Turner; and brother Daniel Cobler.

The family would like to recognize the nurses, CNA’s, chaplain, volunteers, and others from Mountain Valley Hospice who supported Maggie.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maggie’s honor to Mountain Valley Hospice. Monetary donations can be mailed to: Mountain Valley, 240 Commonwealth Blvd West.
