Obituary For Marcie Gravely Hunt
Mrs. Marcie Gravely Hunt departed this life on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her residence in Martinsville, Virginia, at the age of 53. Born on February 8, 1973, in Martinsville, Virginia, Marcie was the beloved daughter of Robert Nelson Taylor and Linda Faye Gravely. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
Marcie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Laurel Gravely; her aunts, Brenda Manns, and Donna Mae Courts; her uncles, William Gravely and Thomas Manns; her brothers, Byron Taylor and Ricky Taylor; and her father-in-law John G. Hunt.
Marcie was united in marriage to Steven Joseph Hunt, who cherished her deeply. She leaves to treasure her memory her loving children, Erica Gravely, and Ahmad Smith both of Martinsville, Virginia; her beloved grandchildren, Lorenzo Smith, Omarion Smith both of Martinsville, Virginia and Kyrzen Azjaniq Smith of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Barry (Lisa) Lowe of Martinsville, Virginia; one sister, Robin (Martin) Reid of Greensboro, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, John Hunt, Jr. of Martinsville, Virginia; her mother-in-law, Charlotte Hunt of Martinsville, Virginia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Marcie attended of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church. She was a proud Martinsville High School graduate, class of 1991 and later completed a Medical Assistant certification program. Marcie worked as a Medical Assistant and was known for her caring heart, compassion for others, and willingness to help anyone in need. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her love, kindness, and beautiful legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
A visitation service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, VA, with Interim Pastor Thomas Divens as the Eulogist and Bishop Alan Preston will be Presiding. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville.
The family will receive friends at Hairston Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. At all other times the family will begin receiving friends at the home, 306 Hairston St., Martinsville, VA.
